Mumbai - The Indian rupee opened near its record low on Friday as traders braced for another sharp stock market fall and withdrawal of funds by investors after heavy losses in markets around the world.
At 9:07 a.m., the partially convertible rupee was at 50.35/40 per dollar, off an early low of 50.53 but weaker than Thursday's close of 50.18/22.
It hit a record low of 50.60 during trade on Thursday.
